ABOUT

Adorn is Brooklyn based design studio started by Eric Elms. We aim to make people think and smile by creating visually interesting and conceptual solutions to client's projects, whether that is a single graphic or an entire campaign. Here is some of the work we have done over the past few years.

EMECO

A poster and mailer promoting a new chair designed by Norman Foster. Touching on the re-knowned durability of Emeco chairs, we decided to throw a one off of a train trestle in New Jersey. (in collaboration with Gary Fogelson) 2007 Photos by Jacqueline Di Milia.

A fold-out hangtag designed to highlight the materials, durability and hand-made qualities put into each Emeco chair. Each tag has spaces for stamps that designate the model of the chair, as well as the signature of the factory worker who prepared it. (in collaboration with Gary Fogelson) 2007

A small booklet created for the 2006 International Contemporary Furniture Fair in Milan. We wanted to contrast the simplicity and beauty of the chairs with the company focus on durability and hand-made production. (in collaboration with Gary Fogelson).

255 BEAUTIFUL LOSERS

Installation created at the Nike 255 space in NYC for the Make Something project being held in collaboration with Aaron Rose & Beautiful Losers.

SUPREME

A selection of designs and graphics. 2002-2004

Art Direction and design for the first Supreme Magazine Catalog. Produced and printed in Japan.

Pattern developed based on archives of old FBI files on famous people. John Lennon, Pablo Picasso, Malcolm X and Josephine Baker. Used accross apparel, shoes and skateboards.

Grip-Tape Box logo concept.

Art Direction and design for the second Supreme Magazine Catalog. Produced and printed in Japan.

PANASONIC

We worked with Renegade Marketing and Panasonic to create Panasonic's "SHARE THE AIR" websites which coincided with Panasonic's involvement with the AST Dew Tour. The sites brought together viral elements which emphasized the natural roles Panasonic's products play with this demographic. (Created with WeAreTrouble)

COLETTE

A shirt designed with Genevieve Gauckler for Colette's NYC GAP pop up shop. All the designs featured one Artist from each Paris and NY.

Exhibition and Flyer design for the Off, Off Bowery show held in the Colette gallery in 2008.

Wall signage designed for the store to promote the upstairs portion of the store and the OOB Show.

Tote-bag design with Colette and Chapel of Dawn for the opening of the show at Colette gallery in May 2008.

HUGE

Design and illustration for a year's worth of covers of HUGE magazine. Designs were carried over for use in point of purchase and street advertising. Art Direction: Detz Matsuda

SCULPTURES

Stussy commissioned us to create two graphic sculptures for display in their Washington DC store. Everything was made by hand in Brooklyn NY and installed on site.

PATTERNS

A selection of repeat patterns for various companies including: Nike, Supreme, SillyThing, Adorn and Carhartt Europe.

D4D

Design and Illustration for a 2004 Downtown 4 Democracy campaign promoting increased youth voter turnout. Used across apparel, event promotion and print. Photography by Jason Nocito.

Selection of hand-drawn lettering used for spot illustrations and graphics.

RUDY'S BARBERSHOP

Art Direction, Design and Installation of mural at Rudy's on Melrose. Continued theme through to collateral products for the store and sketches for the exterior signage.

SILLYTHING

A selection of logos created for Silly Thing and its sister companies.

Logos developed for 2 consecutive collaborations between Silly Thing and UK Label Unkle.

Packaging featuring developed COD logo. Illustration by James Jarvis

Images created for a series of individual protective cases made for pencils, MacBook Air, Credit Cards. Mac DiskDrive, iPhone and a Digital Camera. All were printed on custom canvas cases produced in Japan.

A mark created for French Magzaine WAD in collaboration with SillyThing.

GRAPHICS

A bunch of graphics. Will chnage and update as seasons come out.

NIKE

Graphic characters and custom lettering created for a set of three shoes put out by Nike. The graphics were subsequently incorporated into the shoes themselves as well as appearing on apparel.

Pattern and graphics developed for Nike Hong Kong Co:Lab Artist series. Concept was based off of Nike's "Soul of Football" campaign.

Mural designed and installed at the Chelsea Musuem for the celebration of Nike's innovative Laser technology.

UNDEFEATED

Pencil drawings created for a series of graphics playing off of classic Nike Advertising. A limited edition serigraph was also produced in conjunction with the release.

MISC.ETC.

Concept and Design for the 2002 Pratt Institute Yearbook. It consisted of individual trading cards for every student presented in a classic collectors binder. Worked on with Avi Kravitz, Lauren Giordano and Anita Chacinska.

Sticker designs for LA based music selector DJ PUBES.


We were asked to design boards for Craig Metzger's company Instant Winner.

Graphic spread for RE:UP magazine based on the theme of Transportation.

Collage layouts for the brand A New York Thing and Dazed&Confused Magazine.
